Abstract:

This is an overview of Black Hole Physics.

Before going into the topic, we will first introduce you to the Geometry of Space-Time to better understand the Physics of Black Holes. To better understand this subject, we need to get a mathematical perspective of spaces via Topology and Geometry. Now elaborating on the mathematical perspective of spaces, we will take an intuitive approach to the theory of surfaces -curves, geodesics, concepts of manifolds –essentially a heuristic
introduction to the calculus on manifolds and followed by some physical effects. We then get
into the taxonomic approach to Riemannian Geometry and General Relativity.
We will then introduce you to a brief history of Black Hole Physics and its definition in various
fields. We will then describe the general properties of a Black Hole, physical effects in the
gravitational field and the concept of super-radiance and Unruh effect.
We will then look into the thermodynamics of Black Holes and the Black Hole as a
thermodynamic system including the four laws of Black Hole Physics.
Finally, we will look into results concerning primordial Black Holes and their possible role in quantum gravity.
