Present Chairman’s Message

Having an academic background both in traditional studies as well as in technology, I am delighted to follow in the footsteps of my beloved Guruji H. H. Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji in witnessing and overseeing the considerable educational and academic strides being made by the Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR), founded by the patriot saint H. H. Shree Vibudhesha Theertha Swamiji.

Starting first with a modest size and having only the Theoretical Sciences department, we have now grown to include two currently well-established departments for Materials and Biological Sciences, where frontier research on industrial-grade catalysts and protein structure analysis are undertaken, among many others. It is especially noteworthy that, even while the core of our research is curiosity-driven, part of the research we undertake is devoted to socially useful issues, such as medicinal applications, novel materials and catalysis, green chemistry, solar energy usage, quantum physics/cryptography.

I appreciate that now PPISR is making efforts to leverage their joint expertise in these diverse fields towards studies where machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) can be applied in areas such as novel catalysis design, discovery of immunity-boosting molecular medical studies, novel solar energy materials and quantum technologies. In view of the quality of publications and that of our research scholars, the management, for their part, has deemed it fit to support research at PPISR by making available funds for additional built-up area, faculty expansion and student scholarships.

Through my numerous interactions with the scientists, staff and students at PPISR, I have sensed that we have progressed steadily from our the status of a nascent institute to one where we have established definite directions in terms of academic goals, as witnessed by the many invited talks and publications of our faculty members and their students. The number of students who obtained their Ph.D. at PPISR has now increased to twenty six. The Institute has taken several industry projects both from India and Abroad to support the overall research activity at PPISR.

I have every reason to believe that the stewardship of the institute is in the hands of truly dedicated people who are well poised to deliver Swamiji’s vision for Indian science and the community of Indian students. By the Grace of Lord Sri Krishna, may PPISR fulfill its destiny where scientists are empowered to pursue both pure and applied sciences for the benefit of the country and the world!
