Thank you for visiting the website of Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR). PPISR has been established by H. H. Sri Vibudhesha Teertha Swamiji with the aim of nurturing and promoting original curiosity driven fundamental research in the basic sciences as well as the applied sciences and it was enthusiastically carried forward by the present Chairman of PPISR H. H. Vishwapriya Teertha Swamiji. Currently, H H Shree Eeshapriya Theertha Swamiji, President and Chairman, took up the responsibility of fulfilling his Guruji’s dreams.
I had the privilege of taking this responsibility as the Director of this Institute from 15th February 2010 onwards. It gives me immense satisfaction that over the years; the Institute has made tremendous progress in many areas. It has now become an academy of innovative science and applied research.
We are steadily making progress in a highly competitive scientific research and is coming into limelight on the national and international stage by maintaining the uniqueness in the research field. The Institute has chosen contemporary frontier areas of research in the fields of Materials Science and Catalysis, Biological Science and Theoretical Sciences. PPISR is successfully forging ahead a fruitful academia-industry partnership by innovating, designing and developing novel multifunctional materials that have wide-ranging applications in catalysis, nanotechnology, etc. Several new research projects have been initiated with sponsorship from industries like Sulzer-GTC Technology Inc, USA, GTC Vorro Environmental Services, LLC, USA, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), Deepak Novochem Technologies Ltd, Pune, Bristol Myers Squibb, USA, Bhat BioTec India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, Sravathi Advanced Process technologies Bengaluru, SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company and SABIC Research and Technolgy Private Limited and also Government agencies like VGST, DST, DRDO, etc. We have taken several collaborations with reputed institutions from both India and abroad.
So far, 31 doctoral students have obtained their PhD degree from MAHE, Manipal and nearly 18 doctoral students and several project assistants are actively involved in research activities on many sponsored projects both from Government agencies as well as from industries. Till date, PPISR has obtained 2 US patents and 3 Indian patents and based on the collaborative sponsored projects with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bengaluru and 3 more Indian patents have been filed by PPISR.
PPISR has crossed 400 publications in peer-reviewed high impact factor international journals. We are indeed happy to inform you that Nature Index global data base centre has surveyed and listed PPISR chemistry publications in 2020 is among the top 60 Institutions in India. The above information is collected from research papers published in selected high quality science journals and also provides globally high quality research output in International level. It is a great accomplishment for the Chemistry group to have competed with well-known central government funded institutions in this country with large funding. However, PPSIR has achieved this success story in a short period of time with minimal faculty and facilities.
We have taken up several industry projects sponsored by Sulzer-GTC Technology Inc, USA, Shell India Pvt Ltd, HPCL R&D, etc. Several new areas of research have been initiated through the government agencies sponsored project like DBT, DST, VGST, BRNS & DRDO etc. We have taken several collaborations with reputed institutions from both India and abroad.
The science outreach programmes with an aim of Today’s Science for Tomorrow’s scientist have been successfully conducted with our Poornaprajna School students in Bengaluru in order to create interest in basic science in young minds. We are also provided opportunities for young talented students to carry out research projects for MSc and MTech students. Based on our ongoing research projects, many of our students and faculty members have presented research papers at various National and International Conferences and have won best presentation awards. Several distinguished Professors and scientists from both India and abroad visited our Institute and have given lectures. The infrastructure is being constantly upgraded to meet the academic requirement for carrying out scientific activities.
We were able to achieve these developments with the unstinted support and blessings from Their Holinesses Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji and Sri Eeshapriya Theertha Swamiji, and also enthusiastic support from the management of Admar Mutt Education Foundation and Trustee members, and also with the support of all faculty members, students, and staff of PPISR.
