Invited talk by Dr. Vijayalakshmi Purnanik: “Fundamentals of Adsorption and Processes”

Dr. Vijayalakshmi Purnanik, Senior General Manager at Reliance Industries will speak on “Fundamentals of Adsorption and Processes”. 

Abstract: In the present talk we will discuss basics of adsorption, physisorption/chemisorption and type of adsorbents.  Mechanism involved in adsorption based separation processes.  Formation of monolayer/multilayer and types of adsorption isotherms based on BET method.   Classification of adsorption processes based on adsorbate concentration.  Regeneration of adsorbents by different processes like TSA (temperature swing adsorption) and PSA (pressure swing adsorption) etc.   Finally will discuss classification of adsorption  processes like cyclic batch and SMB (Simulated moving bed).
